First and foremost, I’m a journalist with a focus on social justice issues — particularly those surrounding rural America, disability justice, transgender issues, reproductive justice, labour, and the tech industry. I also have an interest in critical analysis of media and pop culture.
I write both reported and investigative features, along with some opinion editorial and, rarely, personal essays. My work has also appeared in a range of nonfiction anthologies on subjects like reproductive autonomy, mental health, and disability in science fiction and fantasy. (Please direct literary inquiries to my agent, Brianne Johnson, at Writers House.)
I also do public appearances, including paneling and keynoting and interviews for podcasts, radio, and television, along with diversity consulting and training.
In addition, I offer some fiction and nonfiction editorial services.
